Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Review

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra continues its reign as the "superphone to beat," offering a blend of top-tier performance, a phenomenal display, and a highly versatile camera system. While it follows Samsung's strategy of incremental, thoughtful upgrades, the sum of these refinements makes for a device that's difficult to surpass, even if it lacks a single, jaw-dropping new feature. This is a phone for those who demand the absolute best in mobile technology and are willing to pay a premium for it.

Design and Display
The S25 Ultra refines the design language of its predecessors, shedding some of the bulk for a lighter, more comfortable feel. It features a flat frame with rounded corners, a welcome change that improves handling. The device is protected by the second-generation Corning Gorilla Armor 2, which not only offers exceptional scratch resistance but also features an anti-reflective coating that makes the massive 6.9-inch screen a joy to use in direct sunlight.

Speaking of the display, it remains an industry leader. The QHD+ Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X panel is incredibly bright, peaking at 2600 nits, and the colors are vibrant and accurate straight out of the box. The bezels are thinner than ever, creating a truly immersive, "slab of glass" feel. The in-screen ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is fast and reliable.

Performance and Battery
Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is powered by the custom Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which delivers jaw-dropping performance. Whether you're multitasking with dozens of apps, editing 8K video, or playing the most demanding mobile games, the phone handles it all without a hiccup. The performance is consistently fast and fluid, with snappy animations and transitions throughout the One UI 7 interface.

Battery life is another standout feature. The 5,000mAh battery, combined with the power-efficient Snapdragon chip, easily provides a full day of heavy use, and often a second day of moderate use. It’s one of the longest-lasting flagship phones on the market. Charging remains at a respectable 45W wired and 25W wireless, but it’s not the fastest.

Camera System
Samsung has maintained its versatile quad-camera setup on the S25 Ultra, with one significant hardware upgrade: a new 50MP ultrawide sensor. This is a major leap from the previous 12MP ultrawide, resulting in much better detail and improved low-light performance for wide-angle shots. The main 200MP camera, 10MP 3x telephoto, and 50MP 5x periscope telephoto sensors all return, and their performance is further enhanced by the new ProVisual Engine.

The camera excels at a variety of tasks, from stunning, high-resolution landscapes to impressive telephoto shots. The 10x optical quality zoom, powered by the 5x periscope, is truly class-leading for a mobile device. While some reviewers noted minor inconsistencies in low-light noise and autofocus in video, the overall camera experience is exceptionally good and remains a key reason to choose the Ultra model.

AI Features and S Pen
The Galaxy AI features are a big focus for Samsung this year, with tools that can do everything from advanced photo editing to real-time translation. While some features are genuinely useful, others can feel a bit gimmicky. The S Pen returns and is still fantastic for note-taking and creativity, but it’s worth noting that the Bluetooth connectivity for air actions has been removed, which may disappoint some longtime Note users.

Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is a refined and powerful flagship that represents the pinnacle of Samsung's engineering. It offers a stellar display, long-lasting battery, and a versatile camera system that is hard to beat. While its AI features are a work in progress and the design is more of a refinement than a revolution, it’s an exceptional device for those who want the best Android has to offer.
